Colleen Conway is Associate
Professor in Music Education at The
University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
She has presented at national and
international conferences and is the
author of more than 50 research
papers in all of the major music
education journals. Her edited book
entitled "Great Beginning for Music
Teachers: A Guide to Mentoring and
Induction" was released in October
2003 by MENC. “Handbook for the
Beginning Music Teacher” by Colleen
M. Conway and Thomas M. Hodgman was
released by GIA Publications in
January 2006 and “Teaching Music in
Higher Education” was just released
by Oxford University Press in 2008.
Dr. Conway plays horn in the Adrian,
MI Symphony and continues to work
with elementary, middle and high
school music students through
private horn teaching and brass
adjudication throughout Michigan.
She lives in Tecumseh, MI with her
husband,
Tom Hodgman and two children,
Sarah (age 11) and Tommy (age 7).
